Dr. Vilas J Kharat

Dr. Vilas Kharat is a seasoned academician, engineer, and innovation strategist with over 25 years of diverse experience spanning education, engineering, and entrepreneurship. He is the visionary force behind MyDroneTech, a women-led drone technology startup aimed at transforming Tier 2 and Tier 3 regions of India through drone education, agri-tech solutions, and rural innovation.
He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from IIM Mumbai (formerly NITIE) and has built a career that bridges academia with real-world impact. With specialized expertise in CAD/CAM, robotics, AI, project management, and STEM education, Dr. Kharat has published over 15 international research papers and filed 5 patents in emerging technologies, including a UK-registered design in smart waste management and drone-based emergency systems.His drone-related research includes projects like the Quadcopter-based Medical Emergency Response System and gesture-controlled robotics for nuclear safety applications.
He has co-authored books on Entrepreneurship, AI/ML, and Research Methodology, and served on government advisory boards for technical education and innovation.
Dr. Kharat brings to MyDroneTech a rare combination of technical depth, educational leadership, and strategic vision, making him uniquely suited to lead the company’s mission of democratizing drone technology across India’s semi-urban and rural communities.
